How to do Syrup Nail

Hey guys, how are you? Today I decided to do Syrup Nail and plus decided to record a video! I am loving my new 100d + pancake camera so I am always eager to use the new device.

Everything you'll need for this technique is explain in the video and I just wanted to add a few reasons why I love this Syrup nail.

First is that it's natural and not to vivid. When I was a college student I loved matt, colorful nails because I didn't have to go work and take work-related interview and do meeting. However now that I have more official, social gatherings and work related meetings I need something more official and calm. Yet, I am not working full time so I don't want to restrict myself too much. That is why I figure this nail is perfect for me.

Second, this is cheap! I have a kit from Etude House that comes with three different gradation colours.

They are gorgeous and I really liked them but the problem is you'd run out of one colour faster than the other. I used up the orange colour first, and now it's too think to be used. I tried to buy another orange nail colour with glitters but the problem is I can't find anything that have similar glitters with the second-step colour. If I bought whatever orange one, they would not go smooth. Hope I explained well enough. I am still on search, but nothing's caught my eyes yet. These type of kits are great, but cost too much(usually \6000-7000 for three) and can't be purchased separately. Moreover the bottles are smaller so the amount of products you'll get is much smaller per cost. I used the kit only like five times and I already finished one of them!(or rather it went think and dried) I really love the kit but I don't think I will buy again because 1) they are more expensive than regular colours 2) colour choices are very limited. I don't like blue and yellow(cuz of my yellow tone) so what's left for me is only pink and purple. Hmm..

Hope you like the video and my blog! I love to read your comments so please leave one if you have something to say ^^ Bye.

Korean cosmetic brands (personal) analysis

Hey guys, it's Jihun. Since couple of years ago, I have noticed that many people started to get interested in Korean cosmetic brands. Born and raised in Korea, I first honestly didn't understand the hype. We categorize make up or cosmetic brands in generally two ways; department store brands, and "Road Shops". and I really didn't get why people are so interested in Road Shop brands.

I have no idea if non Koreans know this term but the name came from that they have standing alone shops along side road. They can be found in grocery stores too. Or subway stations. Those shops are targeting inexpensive market thus no stores in department stores.

The first floor in department stores usually carries expensive cosmetics, expensive shoes&bags and luxurious brands such as Channel. Obviously many people can't afford those stuffs, not to mention students. Oh one interesting fact. Multiple brands that have stores in department stores are daughter company of "Amore Pacific". But some road shop brands are also from Amore Pacific! They are innisfree and etude house. Believe it or not, the cheaper brands are supposed to share same or similar technology with their expensive sisters. Probably ingredients are different, but at least their mother company is very famous and reliable. Well, that is one of the reasons why I like Innisfree among others the most.

Ok so the purpose of this post is to talk about how I think about some Korean road shop brands. I have to say this first that I am modestly interested in cosmetics, and I interact with twenty-something friends. I listen to their opinions and we share information, but none of my friends are beauty experts so my opinion will be pretty limited. With that being said, let's go!

First, Innisfree.
I like this brand the best. Why? Because it's a daughter company of Amore Pacific. Plus their packaging is neither childish nor cheap. Some brands go for luxurious looking packaging but it makes them look even cheaper in my opinion. Innisfree has great deal for VIPs(or maybe VVIPs). It's not hard at all to meet their requirement. All you have to do is spend 100 thousand won(or roughly $100) in the past six months or so. I do that most times and I'd get 40% off birthday coupon as VIP. Cool right? And you can get 30% off in their sales. I think it happens like one in every three months.

What I like most among their product is their "green tea serum" I will soon be leaving for Canada for good and I purchased three of them to carry with me. This is how much I like it :)

One thing that I don't like is their brushes. But that's fine because I haven't found any good brushes in other road shop brands so I will continue using Mac.(Or sigma once I land down Canada)

Second, Etuide House
Their packaging is pretty, adorable but sine I am in my mid-twenty I feel reluctant to use their product mainly because of their packaging! But I think they have a very nice marketing strategy though. But I must say their customers have to be limited right? I think they sometime release interesting and cute product and I have purchased some but it is not my favourite brand though.

Third, Missha
It's my sister's favourite, and I don't know why. I think it was the leading road shop brand but since they used BOA and other super super famous celebrity for their endorsement, I was turned off. How come they could afford those super stars? Really? I feel like their price gets so expensive over the past 2-3 years and their packaging is too strange. They are supposed to be "Road Shop" but they go for luxurious image. I think it doesn't suit. But once again, my sister loves it(who is 19) and well, it's her opinion.

Fourth, The Face Shop
This brand can be found very easily. Maybe in the areas I go to frequently? I don't know, but I feel like this shop is really, everywhere. I don't have much to talk about The Face Shop. I guess they are nice, but I barely used their product. Many or most cosmetic brands have their signature products or lines. I don't think I have heard of anything from The Face Shop. Oh right I recently have used their Mango Seed face foam cleaner and it was super super good! It doesn't dry out my skin after cleansing and its formula is unique, so I went to the store to check it out but the price was like $8 for a tube so I didn't buy it. Good product, but not worth the price. Perhaps I can get a deal on the coming lunar New Year's day.

Fifth Tony Moly
Never used this product. Nothing heard. There is one store in my college's subway station but it was always empty and recently closed down.

This is what I can think of today. If I have something to say more, I will add later. Bye.
